APAIT Health Center’s Stellar 25th Anniversary--Compassion in Action

A Fundraising Event with Fashion!  Food!  Wine!

Los Angeles— APAIT Health Center is planning the most amazing night of the year on October 24th, 2012.   CBS News Reporter Juan Fernandez and Actress Tamlyn Tomita (Glee, the Joy Luck Club) will host the gala at the glamorous Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles.  Honorary Committee Co-Chairs for the event are Congresswoman Judy Chu and Actor John Cho (Star Trek, Harold and Kumar).  Other Honorary Committee members include Tony Award Winning Actress Bebe Neuwirth, Assembly Speaker John Perez, Redondo Beach Mayor Mike Gin, actor Amy HIll, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Senator Ted Lieu.

The evening will feature food from some of LA’s best chefs.  Scrumptious meals and mouthwatering desserts will be catered by Maison Akira, Crepes Sans Frontieres, Starry Kitchen and Big Man Bakes.

Adding a splash of style to the event are featured collections from some of the country’s most promising designers.  From menswear to womenswear, street wear to bridal wear, designers Cody Sai, Seng Xiong, Madisonpark Collective, Songi Bridal and Andrew Christian will leave everyone in awe.

Honorees for the evening include Actor Alec Mapa and Johnson & Johnson.  We promise a surprise musical guest who’ll blow the roof off the joint.

Recently, a community needs assessment showed that APAIT Health Center's service area demonstrated that community members had a need for health care services such as general health care, dental care, vision/eye care, gynecological care, and counseling services for emotional well-being. However, there are currently no Federally Qualified Health Centers/FQHCs located within the service area. As a result, 20% of community members had used a hospital emergency room in the last year, and for respondents who were parents, 40% had children that used an ER in the past year.

This fundraising effort is intended to support capacity building for the Health Center, allowing the agency to achieve its mission to positively impact the quality of life for medically underserved communities living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS and other health disparities through culturally competent and linguistically appropriate programs in Southern California.
